Europe woke up this Monday to a thick layer of snow, causing hundreds of flight cancellations and rail traffic problems in many Central European countries.
For example, on social networks, there are many images of Munich Airport, facilities which were forced to cancel all their operations due to the heavy snowfall in the German city. Of course, throughout the day on Sunday it was able to reopen, but with only a third of the flights scheduled.
One of the regions most affected by snow is precisely southern Germany. AENA has confirmed that they have been cancelled, until Sunday at 5:30 p.m., nearly 40 operations between Spain and Germany, 18 arrivals and 19 departures.
The weather in Europe: very cold and snowy
“The arrival of winter seriously affects rail traffic in southern Germany“, confirms the official account of Deutsche Bahn Personenverkehr on the social network X. “Massive restrictions are still expected in the Munich metropolitan area. There are cancellations of trains and stops.”.
Sub-zero temperatures and heavy snow across much of southern Germany also slowed road traffic on the country’s main roads and highways. The situation should improve in the coming hours.
