Anyone interested can now get a clear overview of the vaccination process in Germany thanks to a new online tool from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). The offer, called VacMap, has been available since December and provides an overview of the distribution of routine vaccinations.
“VacMap currently visualizes the vaccination rates for infant and child vaccinations recommended by the Permanent Vaccination Commission with the data status of the latest routine report,” the RKI said in a report. Quotas for young people and adults should also follow soon and the tool should be supplemented with information on other standard vaccinations.
Using filter settings, VacMap allows you to view and compare data by year of birth, age group, vaccination status and region in the form of graphs and maps.
For almost 20 years, the RKI has been evaluating billing data from compulsory health insurance companies to record the vaccination rates of the population. According to the authority, the assessments are based on the nationwide statutory medical billing data of compulsory insured persons, which are transmitted to the RKI by the doctors’ associations affiliated with the statutory health insurance.
