Around 2,700 employees in the Basque textile sector are called to strike on the 22nd and 23rd to protest against the state agreement which will worsen working conditions concluded in the Basque Country, according to the ELA union. The employers’ association ARTE of the major commercial chains in the sector (Inditetx, H&M, Sprinter, Primark and Iberian Sports Retail Group) aspires to reach the first state agreement and seeks to equalize the working conditions of all workers in the sector in the ‘State. , which would mean a setback in the progress made in Euskadi.

Indeed, in several provinces of the State, employees receive the interprofessional minimum wage, contrary to what happens in the three Basque territories. The provincial agreement of Gipuzkoa and Bizkaia provides, for example, salary increases with the CPI, an “online” bonus of 100 euros per month, the closure of Sundays and public holidays, the closure of Saturday afternoons of summer, the consolidation of daily work. , and salaries for the seller category of up to 24,000 euros. The Araba provincial agreement, meanwhile, is currently under negotiation.

The platform that the employers’ association ARTE recently sent to the unions clearly shows that they want to reject all these measures, since no salary increase is included based on the CPI, it proposes an irregular distribution of 25% of the working day, or the obligation to work on Sundays and public holidays, among others.
